You Had Me at Hello
There is enormous power in the simple greeting of “Hello”.
Every one of us desires to be recognized and acknowledged. It doesn’t matter if you are a grown woman, man or child. There is an innate desire to say, I am here, do you see me? Even our pets will pester us when we come into a room until we finally acknowledge them with a pat on the head or belly-rub.
Have you ever noticed how being in a line waiting with a lot of people, there is tension? Nobody really wants to be there. There aren’t a lot of smiles and people seem uncomfortable as the energy becomes more dense.
I remember standing in the security check line at the airport recently. Everyone there was discouraged because the lines were so long and they all had planes to catch. Bags and suitcases, kids and strollers were everywhere. Everyone was looking stressed out and unhappy to be there. Continue reading
